CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Corporate social responsibility in 2020 at CHG-MERIDIAN

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is firmly engrained in CHG-MERIDIAN's company culture. As a family orientated business, we look to take on new CSR projects every year that help to benefit our society and bring our team closer together.

In 2019, CHG-MERIDIAN UK chose the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) as our chosen charity to support over the next few years. In the UK, we've set ourselves a target to raise £25,000 within the 3 years via various fundraising projects. However, it's not just in the UK where we take our CSR work seriously. As an international group, CSR is an essential aspect of our business model across the globe; here we take a look back at our CSR projects throughout 2019.

UK CSR projects

Red Nose Day

In 2019 we kicked off with a little games day, featuring quizzes, Mario Kart and some homebaked snacks to raise some money for Comic Relief.

Charity Escape Rooms

The first part of our MNDA partnership was to host our own charity escape room events. Inviting some of our key partners and customers, we hosted a series of events and shared some drinks and snacks afterwards.

Virtual Cycle to HQ (Weingarten)

During November our UK colleagues attempted to cycle the 520 miles distance from our UK office in Egham to our head office in Weingarten, Germany. To provide further motivation, CHG-MERIDIAN UK pledged to donate £10 for every completed over the original 520-mile target. 865 miles later, we had managed to complete the journey and beyond.

International CSR projects

Annual Baking

As is tradition, the Communications and Marketing department put on their aprons and rolled out the dough and baked 16 kilograms of Chrismas biscuits. This year, the profits from the sale went to Lachmuskelm Klinik Clowns, who have been putting smiles on the faces of sick children for more than 20 years.

Business Run Vienna

This year a few of our colleagues put on their running shoes and took part in the Business Run Vienna. A great effort by all of the team involved, who helped to raise €2,000, which was donated to the BBRZ disabled sports association in Linz/Austria.

Social responsibility is firmly established in our corporate culture. We encourage our employees to get involved with projects in the local community, and our CSR initiative ensures that good ideas have the right impact where it is needed most.

HISTORY

How it all Started

Bill Gates founded Microsoft in 1975, Steve Jobs launched Apple in 1976, and in 1979 Jürgen Gelf started CHG. From modest beginnings in the Upper Swabia region of southern Germany, CHG has developed into a success story spanning four decades. And the story goes on.
