5G network: How you can benefit

5G is being rolled out across the world. Here’s our guide to everything you need to know about 5G and how you can benefit from it.

5G has been in the pipeline for many years and, now that it’s here, many mobile internet users around the world are already benefitting from faster download and upload speeds.

5G was first introduced a few years ago to a select few countries only, but it’s now being rolled out significantly across the world. Although there are still questions surrounding 5G, this next generation of mobile broadband has already proven to be a hit amongst users.

Here’s our guide to everything you need to know about 5G and how you can benefit from it.

So, what is 5G?

5G is the next generation of mobile broadband that will eventually replace 4G on a universal scale. Allowing broadband users to enjoy faster download and upload speeds, 5G operates on three different spectrum bands, including low-band, mid-band and high-band spectrums.

Promising to be up to 100 times faster than 4G and 2,000 times faster than 3G, this new generation of mobile internet also offers much higher and faster frequencies.

Is 5G available in the UK?

EE, Three, Vodafone and O2 have all launched 5G for some UK customers. It is expected to be rolled out gradually throughout the country over the next few years, with the aim that the vast majority of broadband users will be using 5G by 2022.

EE was the first network to launch its 5G service in the UK, with other mobile phone companies quickly following suit.

What phones support 5G?

There are a number of phones that support 5G, including:

  • Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus
  • OnePlus 8 Pro
  • LG V60 ThinQ 5G
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G
  • Samsung Galaxy S20
  • Samsung Galaxy S20
  • Motorola Edge Plus

What are the advantages of 5G?

Although there’s currently limited 5G availability, many users are already enjoying its many benefits. Here’s a closer look at some of the advantages of 5G:

Better broadband

Changing the way you use technology for business and pleasure, 5G will allow you to enjoy more reliable, faster broadband with lightning-fast download speeds.

Connected vehicles

Another major advantage of 5G is its unprecedented speed and connectivity, meaning it can be used by automated, or self-driving vehicles, including to connect and communicate between vehicles, infrastructures, networks and pedestrians.

With the vast majority of us permanently attached to our smartphones, demand for faster internet connection and browsing is at an all-time high. And a benefit of 5G devices is that you will be able to enjoy better signal in remote destinations, improved service quality and of course, improved download and upload speeds.

Entertainment and streaming

Finally, 5G also offers users the opportunity to enjoy faster streaming, extraordinary immersive experiences, multisensory digital content and much more.

Supporting technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and 3D, 5G is great news for businesses looking to enhance their digital strategies with the latest tech innovations.
